Westchester Man Caught With 10-Inch Knife In Speeding Stop

A Westchester man was nabbed with a 10-inch knife by New Canaan police after being stopped for speeding.

Jeffrey Mackey, 32, of White Plains, was pulled over around 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28 for driving 45 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone on Old Stamford Road, police said.

When officers approached the vehicle, one noticed a 10-inch long knife in a black sheath on the floor of front passenger side the car, police said.

Police said any blade longer than four inches is considered a weapon.

Mackey was charged with illegal possession of a weapon in a vehicle.

He was released on a $5,000 bond and is due back in court on Feb 7.
